Pilgrimage 2019

Each year the Chaplaincy organises a pilgrimage which normally takes place in the Easter Vacation. In the past we have been to Iona, Walsingham, Rome, Aylesford, Trosly, Northumbria and many other places.

This year we hope to visit the ecumenical Christian community in Taize, France.  It has a special focus on young people, and is known for its distinctive worship style, centred on simple music. The daily worship and Bible study  take place in many languages, so that everyone can take part and feel at home, no matter where they come from.

The community at Taize was founded during the Second World War by a Protestant pastor named Roger Schutz. He intended it to be a place of peace and reconciliation. Brothers and sisters of the Community now come from every Christian background. As well as Taize itself, they live in some of the poorest places in the world. Every year they organise an international gathering in a major European city, to bring together young people for a weekend of prayer, talks, socialising and working for justice.

Exact details and costs will follow soon. Contact one of the full-time chaplains for details.
